Blue Ridge ISD Dyslexia Coordinator & Therapist
Dyslexia
The Blue Ridge ISD Dyslexia team utilizes the Scottish Rite Take Flight curriculum to provide therapy for dyslexic students in the district.
Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia is a Orton-Gillingham based curriculum written by the staff of the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, TX. The curriculum incorporates three other dyslexia interventions developed by the staff at Scottish Rite: Alphabetic Phonics, Dyslexia Training Program, and TSRHC Literacy Program. The therapists at Blue Ridge ISD must complete the related Take Flight trainings before delivering the therapy to students.

During the October 2021 Blue Ridge ISD School Board Meeting, the dyslexia team presented information about the district's program.
Behind Mrs. Hoey, you can see an activity in which board members and meeting attendees were able to participate. The purpose of the activity was to demonstrate how students with dyslexia may initially approach reading, and how the Take Flight program provides the necessary skills that allow students to be successful.
