Blue Ridge ISD Transfer Student Guidelines

  • Transfer requests are subject to campus constraints. The district has the sole discretion to determine whether space exists at any transfer site.

  • Parents have the responsibility of providing safe transportation that ensures arriving at school on time and being picked up at release time; the district does not provide transportation to transfer students.

  • Transfer requests are considered on a student by student basis, not family by family.

  • Students on a transfer must follow all rules and expectations of the District, including those for student behavior and attendance.

  • Approval for one year does not guarantee approval next school year.

  • Student transfers may be denied or revoked due to poor attendance, excessive coming to school late or leaving early, failure to pick up students at dismissal time, lack of parental cooperation, and/or behavioral issues.

  • The District reserves the right to revoke an interdistrict transfer at any time during the school year if the student is assigned disciplinary consequences such as suspension (in school or out of school), placement at the DAEP, or expulsion. In addition, interdistrict transfer students not meeting the state's 90% attendance standard may also be subject to immediate revocation of transfer status.

  • Any person who knowingly falsifies information on a form required by the District for enrollment of a student commits an offense under Section 37.10 of the Texas Penal Code, which offence is a Class A misdemeanor unless the person intends to defraud or harm another, in which event the offense is a felony of the third degree. Class A misdemeanors are punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, confinement in jail for a term not to exceed one year, or both. A third-degree felony is punishable by a prison sentence for any term of not more than ten years or less than two years and additionally by a fine not to exceed $5,000.

  • If the District discovers that a student's assignment to a campus was based on false or misleading information from the student or parent, the student's transfer will be revoked at the end of the current semester.

  • Unless granted a waiver by UIL, reassigned students will not be eligible to participate in any UIL activity or any other activity governed by UIL rules and regulations, whether or not under UIL sanctions, for one year beginning with the date of enrollment in the receiving school. Ineligibility means that the student may not participate in rehearsals, workouts, or practices.
